DESCRIPTION

Pot à chaux birman en argent finement ouvragé, suivant la technique du repoussé. Cette lime box possède un décor floral et un animal mythique figure sur le sommet du couvercle. On retrouve une fleur sur le dessous, peut-être la marque du fabricant. Ce type de lime box était à usage domestique et souvent utilisé pour honorer des invités importants.

1°) 5,2 cms de hauteur, 5,1 cms de diamètre, 53 grs. 

Très beau travail artisanal d’orfèvrerie.

Ces boîtes servaient de récipients pour la chaux éteinte, qui, mélangée à de la noix d'arek et à des épices et enrobés d'une feuille de bétel, était mâché afin de produire un effet euphorisant. Cette pratique perdure en Birmanie (Myanmar).

Circa début du XXème siècle.

ETAT

Etat correct, mais porte les traces de son âge et de son utilisation, oxydation et coups sur le bord (voir photos).

Sera emballé avec soin, envoi traçable.
