Description from the seller
Title: CALLELLA – CAP ROIG
School: Catalan (20th century)
Author: Joaquim Soler Costa
Style: Impressionism
Technique: Oil on canvas
The present work represents a coastal landscape identified as Calella – Cap Roig, emblematic enclave of the Catalan coastline. The composition shows a cove tucked between rocky formations, where the water flows in bluish and greenish tones, reflecting the natural light that penetrates among the vegetation above.
The artist builds the scene with a loose and impasto brushstroke, especially visible in the rocky masses and in the vegetation, where the yellowish and greenish light touches contrast with the deep blues of the shadows. The incidence of light, treated with ease and dynamism, gives depth and atmosphere to the composition, evoking a clear impressionist sensitivity in capturing the moment and the chromatic vibration.
The perspective directs the gaze inward toward the interior of the cove, generating a sense of freshness and natural enclosure. The pictorial material, applied with relief in certain areas, adds texture and visual richness to the whole.

The work is framed with a carved and moulded wooden frame, with perimetral relief decoration of vegetal and braided motifs. Finished in gold and dark tones that enhance the color intensity of the landscape, adding presence and decorative character to the whole.
