Description from the seller
"Ølfugl" Norwegian – Traditional bird-shaped beer bowl – Folk art carved and Rosemaling
carved from a single piece of wood and decorated with stylized floral motifs (the spirit of Rosemaling)
Beautiful traditional Norwegian beer bowl, known as Ølfugl (beer bird), featuring a stylized duck shape. This authentic piece is a remarkable testament to Scandinavian folk art
late 19th century.
Rosemaling is a style of decorative folk painting that appeared in Norway around the 1740s. Originally, Norwegian peasants saw the rich Baroque and Rococo decorations in churches or noble houses, and they began to reinterpret these styles in their own way on their wooden objects.
Dimension: 23cm×17cm×13cm
There is a slight natural crack in the wood or a small scratch at the neck level (visible in the photos). These marks are superficial and do not affect the structural solidity of the piece.
