Nevers - Dish - Earthenware

Superb large tin-glazed earthenware barber's shaving dish decorated in blue on a white background.

The piece features a central stylized floral motif, executed with a bold, free stroke, framed by a wavy peripheral border typical of Nivernais productions of the 18th century.

The well-made form with a wide notch for the passage of the neck corresponds to the classic models used by barbers in the 18th century, around 1740–1770.

The slightly bluish white glaze, the quality of the decoration, and the pattern itself indicate a piece of remarkable quality.

In good condition, with a small old nick and some glaze losses related to tin-glazed earthenware. Natural signs of wear consistent with age.

It is quite rare to find a barber's dish this large.
