Description from the seller
Corneille (1922–2010), born Guillaume Cornelis van Beverloo, was a Dutch artist and co-founder of the avant-garde movement CoBrA (1948). His work is known for its free, colorful and almost childlike character, in which imagination and spontaneity are central.
Typical motifs in his oeuvre are birds, female figures, suns and landscapes, rendered in bold contour lines and bright, contrasting colors. Corneille worked with painting, graphics and ceramics and drew inspiration from folk art and non-Western art traditions.
He grew to become one of the best-known Dutch artists of the 20th century, and his work is collected and exhibited internationally.
The work here and there has some minor creases, but these will no longer be visible when it is framed.
