Pendant - Silver - mid 20th century

Ancient hidden chest pendant.

Splendid ancient ethnic piece, originating from Central Asia or southern Asia (Afghanistan/Pakistan/Ouzbekistan region) or India.

Pectoral pendant with dangling elements.
Origin: Central Asia, Indus Valley region / Afghanistan (Kuchi or Uzbek culture).
Period: Mid-20th century (circa 1940–1980).
Weight: 20 grams (dense, heavy piece).
Dimensions: 9 cm (height) x 4 cm (width).
Good condition for its age. Complete piece (all chains and bells are present).
The upper part contains a small hidden compartment and the lower part is decorated with the hanging elements. Each branch is made of linked chains and ends with pear-shaped bells.
The sound of the bells was meant to ward off the “evil eye.”
