The Portieux crystal works has existed since the 17th century - based in Portieux, a town in the Vosges - renowned for its crystal work - in the mid-19th century - it developed the production of two-color blown crystal pieces - amber for the body - turquoise blue for the handles - mainly offered as liqueur sets - display pieces - cruets.
The model is highly appreciated by French novelist Georges Sand (1804-1976) who used to adorn her table - this model was therefore christened - Georges Sand model.
