Lot Description
Magnificent original Zippo lighter from 1988, a naval and military-interest piece dedicated to the amphibious assault ship USS Sumter (LST-1181), nicknamed "The Gamecock." This model is an excellent addition for collectors of military-themed or American militaria.
Design Details:
Central Emblem: Features a detailed enamel emblem on the front with the silhouette of General Thomas Sumter, the ship's name USS Sumter LST-1181, and its nickname "The Gamecock".
• Finish: High Polish Chrome.
Dating and Authenticity:
• Date code: The base bears the E IV marks, certifying it was manufactured in May 1988 in Bradford, PA.
• Base marks: The era-appropriate Zippo logo with the registry and the inscription "BRADFORD, PA" clearly legible.
Condition:
Condition: In very good vintage condition. The chrome finish retains a bright shine with signs of use and handling typical of a piece this age (minor superficial micro-scratches visible under direct light).
