Exclusive themed chess set: Romans vs. Germans – Heavy pewter casting
I am selling a meticulously detailed, high-quality chess set for collectors and enthusiasts. The set stands out with its massive figures and the historical theme.
Set features:
• Theme: Classic duel “Romans vs. Germans/Vikings.” Each side is individually and intricately designed.
• Romans: Soldiers with galley-launchers and Corinthian columns as rooks.
• Germans: Nordic warriors with dragon-boat “springers” and watchtowers.
• Material: Solid pewter alloy (pewter-look) with a beautiful antique finish. The bases are padded with red felt for gentle placement.
• Weight: Very heavy build! The figures weigh a total of 2,870 g (about 2.9 kg), indicating high value and stability.
• Accessories: A matching wooden-look chessboard with coordinate labeling is included.
Condition:
The set is in good, played-with condition with a nice patina.
Note: Two figures on the Roman side have small flaws (one broken head and a figure has detached from its base, see detail photos). For hobbyists or collectors this is easily fixable, and the price already accounts for this.
