Description from the seller
This fine quality manuscript leaf from the Holy book scribed by Abdullah at-Khadim in AD1616. The folio contains scripture from Surah Al-Waqi'ah (The inevitable Event) v.88-96 describing the fate of humanity in three groups after death: the foremost (brought near) receive rest and paradise, the companions of the right get peace, and the deniers receive scalding water. It concludes by affirming these fates as certain truth. These verses are part of the detailed description of the Day of Judgment, highlighting that actions in this life which determine the final, eternal abode.
The marginal decoration in blue and gold, marks 95th verse of the chapter. The framing and calligraphy are typical of the islamic art in the Mughal era of the Turk-Monghul dynastic period (1526-1857), designed for its aesthetic appeal as well as its legibility. It marked a "golden age" of cultural synthesis, known for strong, centralized administration, blending Persian, Islamic, and Indian traditions. It was a period of immense wealth, renowned for architecture like the Taj Mahal, literature, and art
