Sheaffer, Model Lifetime – Flat Top lifetime, in celuloid, made in the United States in the mid‑20th century, in good used condition with minor signs of wear and fully in working order.
Description from the seller
The fountain pen presents a very solid state of conservation for a piece manufactured about a century ago, maintaining essential elements of authenticity and aesthetic coherence between the cap, barrel, and fittings.
The cap, made of jade-colored mottled cellulose, preserves notable shine and a well-defined inner texture, indicating that the material has not suffered severe degradation. The gold clip retains its shape and firmness, with light surface wear typical of its age, while the prominent White Dot is present and intact. The wide golden band shows micro-scratches and small signs of use, normal for pieces of this era and not affecting the structural stability of the cap.
The brown-golden mottled cellulose body exhibits good color uniformity and a pattern still visible, a sign that the material preserves its original properties. It presents light surface marks compatible with prolonged use and storage, but no cracks, fractures, or deformations are observed. The junction between body and cap is firm and precise.
The lever-filler mechanism is complete and visually in good condition. The lever operates externally with smoothness and without excessive play, indicative of a well-preserved mechanism; however, as is customary with older cellulose pens, the internal condition of the sac is not certified without maintenance intervention.
The gold nib, with clearly engraved Sheaffer, shows a clean surface and no signs of corrosion. The feeds maintain proper alignment and no deformities are observed. The ebonite feed features sharp ribs and no visible signs of obstructions or severe wear.
Overall, the pen presents in very good aesthetic and structural condition, with a notable level of preservation for its age and no critical damage to the soft cellulose material. It is a piece that combines visual appeal, historical integrity, and functional potential, ideal for collection or light restoration.
It will be shipped in a courtesy box for proper preservation.
