Description from the seller
Description
Beautiful Hofner Concert 515H from 1968, a classical guitar.
Back then delivered by van Wouw Amsterdam, the Hofner importer for the Netherlands. He even numbered it, because at the time they came without serial numbers and van Wouw would stamp a number on the headstock.
Inherited to me.
The heir didn’t know what to do with it.
I, as a luthier, tackled it and made it neat.
Fretboard oiled and the bridge saddle lowered a bit to improve playability. The frets are still very neat and polished.
New set of D’Addario Classic normal-tension nylon strings.
After that the guitar a polish and waxed it.
Found the model and date on the internet.
Natural blemishes, which is to be expected for a guitar of almost 50 years.
The original guitar case is also included.
Similar to the 514, this guitar was marketed by Hofner at different times, both in their Jugend series and in the Concert guitars, where its size made it a good fit. It had the smaller of Hofner’s two concert body formats (275/365 mm width) and a spruce top with a back and sides of laminated flame maple. The body featured a simple black (plastic?) binding and a wooden mosaic decoration around the soundhole. The 515 was finished with matte clear lacquer, but during the entire production run a high-gloss version was also available.
Now very playable and suitable for kids as an adult, but of course also for the Hofner guitar collector.
