Description from the seller

Characterful crucifix with an expressively designed plaster Christ figure, mounted on a wooden cross. The corpus is elaborately detailed with emphasis on anatomy and the agony expression. The loincloth is gilded and subtly polychromed.
At the top there is the traditional INRI sign. The wooden cross features a carved decorative pattern that gives the whole piece extra depth and an artisanal appearance.

Trademark:
On the back of the cross is the designation “GLV 72”. The mention “72” most likely refers to the year 1972.
Such devotional crosses were often produced in Catholic workshops or religious art studios in Belgium, the southern Netherlands, Germany, or Austria during this period. The combination of a wooden cross with a separately cast plaster corpus was a common production method in church art workshops and intended for use in homes, schools, monasteries, or smaller chapels.
