Figural mantel clock - Art Deco Ceramic - 1940-1950

Presentation:
Magnificent Art Deco-era tabletop clock (circa 1940) in glazed ceramic. The scene depicts a duo of stylized does and gazelles at rest, surrounded by an exotic foliage setting.
Aesthetic:
The piece benefits from a magnificent iridescent glaze. Depending on the viewing angle and the light, the animals’ coats and the decor take on pearlescent, bluish and golden reflections. The dial is square-shaped with Arabic numerals typical of the period.
Condition and Function:
• Mechanism: The clock is perfectly functional. It is a mechanical movement wound manually every day via the key/button on the back.
• Condition of the ceramic: Very good overall condition. A small superficial chip is noted on the upper part of the foliage (see close-up photo), barely visible once the object is displayed.
• Marking: Numbered 123 under the base.
