6 flat plates and 6 deep plates in Art Deco style designed by Gio Ponti for the Richard-Ginori manufactory in the 1930s with a minimalist design featuring a thin red rim and a central decoration depicting a small stylized brown sailing boat with yellow and red sails on blue waves.
These plates were produced at the Richard-Ginori factory in San Cristoforo, Milan.
Behind each plate is the Richard Ginori mark, the manufacturing numbers, cold stamps that attest to their authenticity.
Gio (Giovanni) Ponti (Milan 1891 - 1979), after graduating in architecture, in the 1920s began his collaboration as a designer with Richard Ginori, reworking the company’s design. In 1925 he won the Grand Prix at the Paris Exposition Universelle. An architect, designer, essayist and academic, he was one of the promoters of the revival of Italian design after World War II.
