Set of 18 Art Deco ceramic plates designed by Gio Ponti for Richard-Ginori in the 1930s, made in Italy, with a red fine border and a central brown stylised boat with yellow and red sails on blue waves; includes 6 dinner plates (Ø 23 cm, height 2 cm), 6 soup plates (Ø 23 cm, height 3.5 cm) and 6 fruit plates (Ø 20 cm, height 2 cm); backstamped Richard Ginori with manufacture numbers; condition very good with typical signs of age.

Magnificent 18 dishes, 6 flat plates, 6 soup plates, 6 fruit plates, in Art Deco style designed by Gio Ponti for the Richard-Ginori manufactory in the 1930s with a minimalist design featuring a thin red rim and a central decoration depicting a small stylized brown sailboat with yellow and red sails on blue waves.
These plates were produced at the Richard-Ginori plant in San Cristoforo, Milan.
Behind each plate the Richard Ginori mark, the production numbers, cold-stamped marks that certify authenticity.
Gio (Giovanni) Ponti (Milan 1891 - 1979), after graduating in architecture, in the twenties began his collaboration as a designer with Richard Ginori, reworking the company’s design. In 1925 he won the Grand Prix at the Paris Universal Exposition. An architect, designer, essayist and academic, he was one of the promoters of the postwar Italian design revival.
