Kinkōgama Kinjo Kiln(錦江窯) – Satsuma Ware Matcha Bowl (Chawan)
This refined Satsuma ware matcha bowl was crafted by 錦江窯 Kinkōgama (Kinjo Kiln), a kiln based in Kagoshima Prefecture and dedicated to the traditional craftsmanship of Satsuma pottery.
The bowl features a warm ivory glaze with a fine crackle (kan’nyū) texture characteristic of Satsuma ware. Delicately hand-painted chrysanthemums in vibrant red and purple bloom gracefully across the surface, accented with green foliage and subtle gold details. The interior retains a smooth, luminous glaze suitable for tea ceremony use.
The base bears the mark of Kinkōgama, and the original signed wooden tomobako (storage box) is included. The inscription on the box reads “茶碗” (Chawan), confirming its intended use as a tea bowl.
