A. Buonomo (XX) - Paesaggio rurale

Oil painting, 50 × 60 cm, datable to the mid-20th century (1940s–1950s).
The work depicts a wintry landscape in a romantic taste, with a rural house immersed in a forest of bare trees and crossed by a stream that reflects the warm light of the twilight sky. The composition, balanced and silent, plays on the contrast between the cold tones of the snow and the golden tones of the light, evoking an intimate and contemplative atmosphere of Northern European tradition.
In the bottom right there is the signature “A. Buonomo.” The painting surface shows uniform craquelure consistent with the period. On the back of the canvas you can see the stamp “Michelangelo Artist Gallery – Oxford,” the mark of an English gallery-publisher active in the first half of the 20th century, specialized in the dissemination of decorative works on canvas.
