“Threshold of Blue” is a visual artwork by Nik Haku that explores the liquid boundary between identity and disappearance. A solitary figure emerges partially from water, her body enveloped in a saturated blue that blurs the distinction between skin and surface. Her face, cloaked in shadow, offers only the faintest trace of presence—like something remembered more than seen. The image balances tension and stillness, capturing a moment suspended between being and fading.

Artist's statement:

This piece is a meditation on liminality—on the thresholds we cross without realizing. Water here is not just a setting, but a boundary: soft, reflective, and elusive. I wanted to depict the body as both vessel and veil, a place where perception falters. It's not about showing someone, but about evoking what slips away when we try to hold it too tightly. The figure is not disappearing; she’s becoming part of something else—an echo, a current, a color.

About the artist:

I’m Nik Haku, a visual artist and photographer exploring the space between the real and the altered.
My practice blends multiple techniques —primarily photography, complemented by painting— to construct images that move fluidly between mediums. My work spans portraiture and landscapes, beginning with photographic capture and evolving through painting, AI, and digital manipulation. I aim to create visual worlds where memory, identity, and imagined space overlap, dissolving the boundaries between what is seen and what is felt.
