AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Arnaldo Pomodoro was born in Montefeltro in 1926, and spent his childhood and training in Pesaro. Since 1954 he has lived and worked in Milan. His Fifties works are bas-reliefs in which a singular, unprecedented “script” in sculpture emerges, interpreted in various ways by the leading critics. In the early 1960s he confronts tridimensionality and develops research into the forms of solid geometry: spheres, discs, pyramids, cones, columns, cubes—in polished bronze—are ripped, corroded, hollowed into their innermost being, with the aim of breaking their perfection and revealing the mystery contained within. The formal contrast between the smooth perfection of the geometric form and the chaotic complexity of the interior will henceforth be a constant in Pomodoro’s production.

An emblematic and very rare work by the master, the visual and technical quality employed for the piece is of exceptional level.

The edition number may not correspond to the number shown in the photograph.

The provenance of the work is the Manzoni Graphic Gallery, which issues its certificate of authenticity.
