Female bust vase – expressive earthenware / ceramic – sculptural object

A powerful and sensual female torso, shaped as a vase. This special ceramic object unites sculpture and utilitarian object in one expressive form. The emphasis is on the organic flow of the waist, hips and chest, executed in a robust, almost archaic style.

The skin tone is built up from soft cream- and earth-tones with subtle accents in ochre, red and yellow. The surface shows a lively crazing and an irregular, hand-formed texture that gives the object a pure and authentic character. Not a sleekly polished perfection, but an artistic approach in which form and emotion are central.

The vase opening is at the top of the torso and follows the natural lines of the shoulders. Interior visible in photo: locally the glaze or silver glaze has flaked off. This does not affect stability, but is noteworthy for completeness. See detail photos for a good view of the condition.

Weight approximately 2329 grams (see photo with scale). A solid and heavy piece that stands firmly and lends itself well as a decorative statement – with or without flowers.

Good vintage condition with signs of use appropriate for age and material. Crazing and texture are part of the design. Interior with local damage to the silver glaze, see photo.
