Art Nouveau figural table lamp in spelter with bronze patina, dating to ca. 1920–1930, produced in Germany, dimensions 15 × 15 × 35 cm, weight about 5 kg, in good condition with minor signs of ageing.
Description from the seller
Art Nouveau Figural Table Lamp “Young Fisherman” – Jugendstil – Bronzed Spelter – Germany / Austria – ca. 1900–1925
Good antique condition with normal signs of age and use. The original bronze patina is well preserved and shows an attractive, authentic surface. Minor wear, small surface irregularities and age-related marks consistent with its period. The electrical system appears to be functional, but as with all antique lamps, professional inspection is recommended before use.
Description:
An expressive and charming Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) figural table lamp representing a young fisherman absorbed in repairing or tying his fishing line. The sculpture captures a quiet, intimate moment of everyday rural life — a subject highly appreciated in Central European decorative arts of the early 20th century.
The figure stands barefoot on a naturalistic base, dressed in period clothing and wearing a characteristic fisherman’s hat. The modeling of the face and posture demonstrates careful craftsmanship and artistic sensitivity typical of Jugendstil workshops in Germany and Austria.
The lamp structure rises organically behind the figure, integrated harmoniously into the composition, reflecting the Art Nouveau philosophy of uniting beauty and function.
Executed in spelter with a finely applied bronze patina, the surface has developed a warm, authentic tone over time, enhancing its sculptural presence and antique character.
Such figural lamps were popular decorative objects in bourgeois interiors of the early 1900s and today remain highly collectible examples of Art Nouveau decorative lighting.
Special features:
– Authentic Art Nouveau period piece
– Expressive figural composition
– Original bronze patina
– Decorative and functional object
– Collectible example of Central European Jugendstil decorative arts
Provenance:
Private collection, Europe
Note:
This is an original early 20th century object, not a modern reproduction.
