Sheaffer Legacy Heritage gold‑plated fountain pen, made in the United States in the mid‑20th century, with an 18k gold nib, about 13.8 cm long and 1.2 cm in diameter, in good used condition and in working order.
Description from the seller
A0000003684
The fountain pen is presented in excellent condition, showing a generally very well cared-for and well-preserved appearance. The body and cap, made of metal with a King’s Gold finish and geometric basketweave-like engraving, maintain a uniform and deep shine that enhances the richness of the engraving work. The decorative pattern is crisp and well defined across the entire surface, preserving its elegant character and its characteristic visual presence.
The gold finish is very well preserved, with extremely light signs of handling typical of moderate and respectful use over time. These small marks are minimal and only perceptible under close inspection, not affecting at all the overall aesthetics of the piece or its presence when held in the hand.
The cap fits correctly and the gold clip with White Dot is firm, aligned and in perfect functional condition, preserving its original elasticity. The black resin section maintains a clean and bright appearance, with no cracks or deformations.
The solid 18-carat gold (18K – 750) integrated nib is in excellent condition, with the wings perfectly aligned and a well-preserved tip. It maintains its original geometry and offers smooth and precise writing, characteristic of Sheaffer inlaid nibs. The feed is clean and properly seated.
The filling system has been checked and tested, functioning correctly and allowing an appropriate ink fill and a steady flow during writing.
Overall, it is a very well-preserved specimen, combining refined aesthetics with full functionality, faithfully representing the manufacturing quality of the Legacy Heritage series.
Conservation recommendations
To preserve its optimal functioning and longevity, it is recommended to use high-quality inks suitable for fountain pens, avoiding pigmented inks or inks with particulates. If the pen will not be used for an extended period, it is advisable to clean it with warm water, dry it carefully before storing, and keep it in a dry place, protected from direct light and extreme temperatures. The filling system should always be operated gently to ensure proper long-term maintenance.
It will be shipped in a courtesy box for proper conservation.
Happy bidding!
