Swedish hand-painted sewing chest on legs – folk art with a rich tradition

Special Swedish sewing chest on elegant legs, executed in warm-toned wood and richly decorated with traditional Scandinavian floral motifs. This type of sewing chest is strongly connected to the Swedish folk art tradition and forms a beautiful example of functional furniture paired with decorative painting.

The chest rests on graceful turned legs with a characteristic framework of spindles, giving the furniture a light and refined appearance. The construction is both sturdy and elegant, making it a perfect standalone piece in an interior.

The exterior features hand-painted ornaments in warm red, gold, cream, and green tones. The central panel on the lid shows a symmetrical floral motif that strongly resembles traditional Swedish decorative painting such as kurbits. Upon opening the lid, a beautifully painted interior reveals a colorful floral ornament. Inside there is a removable organizer with compartments for sewing tools, threads, scissors, and other small items. Underneath this insert there is additional storage space.
