Japanese lacquerware bowls with box – urushi – Shōwa period
Elegant set of ten Japanese lacquer bowls with a matching storage box. The bowls are finished in red-brown urushi lacquer and decorated with refined gold-colored representations of flowers and plants.
The lid of the box is also decorated with a bird in a landscape with plants in gold decor, a classic motif within Japanese lacquerware.
Sets like this were traditionally used for serving small dishes, sweets, or tea snacks. The delicate gold decoration and the warm lacquer give the set a particularly decorative character.
