Thimble (80) - Good Vintage Collection

This collection of thimbles will take a collector on a journey around the world. The collection includes exclusive thimbles in various unusual materials, made amongst others in England, China, Kashmir, Africa and Austria. A small WOODEN STANDARD to take 14 thimbles is included. A Yin & Yang Chinese thimble of horn with the famous symbol for two opposite energies which compliment each other, is a special collector's piece. Talking of Chinese thimbles brings us to the colourful collection cloisonnè enameled thimbles. The age-old technique of making cloisonne is very labour- intensive and each thimble is unique! The beautiful Caithness thimble with a millefiori top has to be mentioned (always unique). The same applies to the unusual "agate" example from Jersey, no two alike! A small assortment of porcelain thimbles mostly bear names of important factories, for instance Royal Albert and Franklin Mint (bird serie). Others in this collection include examples of hand-painted metal and pewter, one with a dog and another with climbing cats, mother of pearl from Mexico and hand-painted wood from Kashmir. Almost antique are the aluminium thimbles from Austria with advertising texts and 1 x Madonna, dating from the 1930's! This vintage collection dates from early 1930's to 1990. The collection is in excellent condition, will add a touch of history to a thimble collection and cannot be repeated! There are 80 thimbles in total and a very nice small wooden thimble standard (18cm. high x 11cm. diameter). Careful packaging will ensure a safe delivery. See my feedback on Catawiki.
