Mortar - Bronze - Central Asia - 18th century

For sale is a significant antique bronze vessel, a so-called Lota, from the 18th century. The vessel impresses with its heavy quality and the deep dark patina typical of this era. Classic belly-shaped body with a flared lip. The wall is adorned with distinctive vertical ribs (often interpreted as lotus motifs) that give the vessel a powerful, archaic aesthetic.
• Material: Solid bronze cast with a high copper content. Inside, authentic oxidation traces are visible, confirming its great age. Very good antique condition. No cracks or holes. The surface has deliberately been left in its original state and not polished to preserve the valuable historical patina.
• Origin: North India or Central Asia, Mughal Empire / late 18th century.
