Description from the seller

Splendid historical manifesto of the famous American circus Barnum & Bailey, with extraordinary depiction of a roaring tiger in the foreground, iconic advertising image of the “Greatest Show on Earth”.

Note well: This is a later edition probably from the 70s.

The subject, attributed to Walter Schanchenberg (illustrator active for American circus posters in the first half of the twentieth century), represents one of the most recognizable posters in American circus graphics.

The composition is of strong visual impact: the tiger dominates the scene with intense painterly rendering, jaws wide open and vibrant red/blue tones, typical of the great American lithographic tradition.

The graphics recall the original posters from the early decades of the 20th century tied to the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus circuit, regarded as the greatest traveling show of the era.
