Description from the seller
Original vintage poster from 1970), depicting a tamer with a horse head, was part of a series drawn by the legendary Polish artist Waldemar Swierzy to promote the Warsaw Municipal Circus. Swierzy's circus and zoo posters have become iconic Mid-century graphic design examples, even though they are original editions commissioned by the Communist state to promote cultural events, being the only means of expression for artists of the era, a sublime protest against the regime. Printed in a handmade fashion, the color tone often varied in intensity. This poster comes from a small Venice gallery, “centro posters and gadgets,” closed in 1971, which dealt mainly with posters, for pop art. Excellent condition, near mint condition.
