Old temple votive lamp from Rajasthan, India, dating to the late 19th century during the British Raj (c. 1850–1900); brass with Lakshmi depicted on an ornate base, 14 cm high, 10 cm wide, 430 g, in good condition with signs of ageing, not sold with a stand, provenance: private collection.

Old brass oil lamp depicting the Hindu goddess Lakshmi, standing on an ornate base with decorative elements including an elephant motif.
This traditional Indian brass oil lamp features the goddess Lakshmi, the Hindu deity of prosperity, fortune, and abundance. Lamps like this are commonly used in Hindu temples and home shrines as devotional objects.
During worship (puja), the shallow basin is filled with vegetable oil or ghee, and a cotton wick is placed in the spout and lit. The flame is offered as a symbolic act of devotion, representing light overcoming darkness and the presence of the divine.
