Description from the seller

As a plasterer’s son from Schiedam, Poortvliet did not seem destined for a life as an artist. His parents were strict Reformed and would have nothing to do with the idea that their eldest son would go to an art academy.

Poortvliet's drawing talent manifested itself in his youth. After completing the MULO, the young Poortvliet worked for an advertising agency. After he fulfilled his military service with the navy, he rose to senior manager at Unilever's advertising agency, Lintas.

Poortvliet took more pleasure in his side activities for various publishers. He illustrated books by, among others, Jaap ter Haar, Leonard Roggeveen, and Godfried Bomans. He was a passionate hunter and thus also began drawing nature subjects.

Note: is not signed, but cast by the son especially for the lovers of Rien Poortvliet.

Seller's Story

As the seller of our lot, we are not liable for damage if a work is sent by an external partridge. Furthermore, we can always send a frame after consultation after purchasing the painting.
