Large Art Nouveau Silvered Bronze Centrepiece – Floral Jugendstil Stand – Marked DBE – circa 1900
Description
A striking Art Nouveau centrepiece dating from around 1900, featuring an elegant organic design inspired by natural plant forms.
The openwork tray is composed of finely sculpted flowers and flowing stems that create a delicate yet dramatic structure. The central column rises like intertwined plant stems from a richly modelled base with stylised foliage, a hallmark of the Jugendstil aesthetic.
The piece is made from multiple metals, with a beautifully silvered bronze upper section and a cast metal base. The underside bears the DBE maker’s stamp, (Deutsche Bronze Erzeugnisse) indicating early 20th-century German production.
This impressive stand was intended as a table centrepiece, suitable for displaying fruit, sweets, or decorative objects. Its sculptural presence also makes it an excellent decorative piece even when not in use.
Large Art Nouveau centrepieces of this type were produced in Germany around the turn of the 20th century and remain highly collectible today.
