A silver-plated Jugend vase dating from about 1900–1910 by WMF/Geislingen, with a smooth mirror body, an openwork upper section, two sculptural handles, and dimensions of 27.5 cm high by 10 cm wide and 7 cm deep, in good condition with light wear and the WMF and GAB marks.
Description from the seller
A beautiful Jugend silver-plated vase produced by WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik) in Germany in the early 1900s and later sold in Sweden by GAB – Guldsmedsaktiebolaget, Stockholm.
The vase has an elegant form with a smooth, mirror-like body, and a richly detailed upper section in an openwork Jugend design.
On both sides, it is connected to two sculptural handles with flowing lines.
The base is stamped with the WMF mark with the ostrich, OX (oxidized finish), 1/0, and the letter H.
The upper section is stamped GAB with the Stockholm city mark and NS for Nysilver.
It was common practice for high-quality metalware and silverware to be produced by a manufacturer such as WMF in Germany and then imported, retailed, or finished by a company in another country such as GAB in Sweden. In this case, the vas was likely produced by WMF and later sold through GAB’s retail network, which explains why both stamps appear on the piece.
Condition is lovely with light surface wear. There are a few small scratches and one small dent visible in the close-up photo. Nothing serious and the structure is sound. No breaks or structural damage. It looks great overall.
Height: 27.5 cm
Width: 10 cm
Depth: 7 cm
Please take a good look at the photos, which are an integral part of the description.
This lot will be carefully packed so it will get to its new owner exactly as it should.
