Description from the seller
Large antique brooch, late 19th century, early 20th century in mass silver, work inspired by oriental motifs, probably from artisanal production in Southeast Europe under Ottoman influence.
The brooch features a richly openwork structure with a worked decoration including a central red glass cabochon imitation garnet. At the top there is a small glass stone imitating turquoise. At the side ends, two small white cabochons, probably wax pearls, complete the piece. A small rhinestone is also noted in the lower part.
traces of vermeil are visible in places, creating a subtle contrast with the silver and highlighting certain decorative elements. Slight wear is observable on the small pearls, consistent with the age of the piece.
The metal is solid silver. It has been verified using an appropriate acid test for silver; the reaction produced a bright red coloration, indicating a good silver content.
On the reverse, a small decorative element features characters evocative of an oriental or Arabic inscription.
The pin is steel, as is frequently the case with antique jewelry to ensure better sturdiness.
Dimensions: about 6.2 cm wide and 5 cm high (including the length of the pin).
Weight: about 25.2 g.
Good antique condition with patina consistent with age.
The brooch has been carefully examined and described with the greatest precision to guarantee a faithful presentation of the object.
Please read the description carefully and check the dimensions before purchase.
The photos are an integral part of the description and allow assessing the condition of the object.
Antique or vintage jewelry that has been worn: slight signs of wear may be present.
Careful and well-protected shipping after payment.
