Description from the seller

Collar sautoir, White 18k gold, cultured pearls, white sapphires and chrysoprase, Art Deco, 40’s

Exquisite two-strand sautoir necklace of cultured pearls, a total of 80, all with a diameter of 8.5 mm. The clasp is an 18k white gold brooch, with a geometric structure and pierced work, set with white brilliant-cut sapphires of different sizes, a marquise cut, and a central emerald-cut green chrysoprase, and a chrysoprase.
This brooch serves both structural and ornamental purposes, as it becomes the focal point of the piece, a very common feature in jewelry from the 1940s and 1950s. It features an intricate design of interlaced ribbons and leaves radiating from the central stone, a large emerald-cut chrysoprase. The chrysoprase is a gemstone of the chalcedony variety (a quartz variant) with an intense green color due to small nickel fragments in its structure. Its hardness is 6–7 on the Mohs scale and it is known as the “stone of hope.” There are contrasts in the clasp and a double safety mechanism. Twelve white brilliant-cut sapphires, approximately 0.02 cts each, frame this spectacular brooch and illuminate it from the outside. An additional four smaller brilliant-cut sapphires are bezel-set, pointing to the marquise-cut stone. It is kept in its original box.
A high-jewelry piece, timeless, elegant and sophisticated.
