World War II US Army Air Forces officer uniform grouping named and documented to 1st Lt. Elias E. Zirul (Chemical Warfare Training), including tunic with correct AAF insignia and rank, garrison cap, shirt, denim duffel bag, two trousers, extensive provenance, and a 250-page autobiography.
Description from the seller
WW2 US Army Air Forces (AAF) officer uniform grouping – named & documented to 1st Lt. Elias E. Zirul (Chemical Warfare Training) + autobiography
Attractive and historically strong WWII US Air Forces uniform set, with exceptionally good provenance. This lot is named and documented to 1st Lt. Elias E. Zirul, linked to Chemical Warfare Training within the AAF/Army.
The set includes an original officer tunic/jacket with correctly applied AAF sleeve patch, rank (1st Lieutenant) and accompanying collar insignia, together with the garrison cap, shirt, the canvas duffel bag and two accompanying trousers. Multiple internal markings/name mentions support the provenance and coherence of the set. Original ID card, nameplate in wood for the desk, very extensive set of documents, some of which are restricted/classified.
What makes this lot truly special is the extensive document group in the name (including training/lesson papers, forms and issue/property slips), with clear references to Chemical Warfare Training and locations/facilities such as Buckley Field and Barksdale Field. This is not just a loose uniform, but a real identified & documented grouping: uniform + name + extensive paper trail that corroborate each other.
As an extra, there is also a full autobiography (250 pages) included, which is rare to be preserved together with a uniform dossier and can provide a unique insight into the person behind the set.
A fine opportunity for collectors or museum display: a complete WWII USAAF/AAF grouping with strong provenance and exceptionally rich background material.
