Description from the seller
Collection of 8 Antique Walking Sticks with a Barley-Twist Display Stand – Silver, Brass, and Fine Woods – 19th/20th Century
1. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Exclusive lot consisting of 8 authentic walking sticks (not replicas) and a 9-hole solid wood display rack. The collection has been curated to offer a variety of styles, from Alpine hiking to early 20th century Dandy elegance. Materials include silver, solid brass, noble woods, and commemorative metal plaques.
2. COLLECTION DETAILS
The Stand: Elegant central-column support with barley-twist work. Beech or mahogany wood. Sturdy and in excellent condition. Height about 75–80 cm.
Strong Piece (The Formal): Cane with a domed silver knop set in repoussé with floral motifs. Dark wood shaft (ebony/mahogany). Excellent patina of age.
Animalier Series (3 pieces): Three canes with figurative handles in solid brass depicting, respectively, an eagle head, a greyhound hunting dog head, and a horse head.
The Historic (The Hiker): Rustic cane adorned with numerous Stocknagel enamelled metal plaques, testimony to peaks and refuges reached between the 1940s and 1960s.
The Classics (3 pieces): One cane with a Derby-style metallic handle engraved, a model with a beaked handle in Liberty brass, and an elegant nautical cane with a reinforcing collar.
3. CONDITION
Original vintage items. They show normal wear consistent with age (patina on metals, light signs of use on woods), which certifies their authenticity. All canes are structurally intact and the grips are secure.
