Description from the seller
Beautiful Art Deco plant stand (piëdestal). The table is made of oak. It weighs about 3 kg, is 102 cm tall (!) and the top measures about 24 cm x 24 cm. The legs are also about 24 cm apart. The table probably dates from the 1930s. You can regard the table as an Art Deco piece of furniture. It is not a refined piece, but a sturdy table that could have stood in any home in the pre-war years.
Due to temperature fluctuations, the top, in particular, has a light crack at the joint between the original boards from which the top is made. The underside also has light cracks, though less than the top (see photos). These signs of wear are appropriate for such an old plant stand.
The oak is dark stained and has a varnish layer that has disappeared in places. The table can be used as a plant stand, but also as a pedestal or telephone table (see photos). As an occasional table it is rather tall. In any orientation this table is a beautiful, fitting piece of furniture. Because the table is quite high, it is especially suitable for a plant with hanging branches and leaves.
The table is still particularly stable. There is absolutely no movement in the joints, which is quite exceptional, as there is often a small wobble in such furniture.
This plant stand will be carefully packed and shipped insured.
