Two-piece mid‑century glass ensemble from Italy, comprising a ruby red handblown vase (33 cm high, 20 cm diameter) and a teal blue stepped presentation coupe (35 cm diameter, 10 cm high), dating to circa 1960–1970, in good condition with minor signs of aging.
Description from the seller
Art Glass Ensemble: Giant Ruby Glass "Balloon" and its Presentation Bowl
This set consists of two distinct pieces perfectly matched in design and chromatic complement:
The Giant Glass "Balloon": A magistral piece in ruby red blown glass. Its surface features remarkable textured relief (optical technique or needlepoint mold), creating a lattice pattern that captures and fragments light in a spectacular way. The stem is short, resting on a circular transparent base.
The Bowl / Base: A flared bowl in solid glass of teal blue or deep turquoise. It is distinguished by its concentric rings in stepped tiers (late Art Deco or Modernist style).
Technical Details & Condition
Material: Mouth-blown glass.
Colors: Ruby Red and Teal/Aquamarine.
Technique: Mold-blown glass with geometric relief for the vase; pressed or centrifuge glass for the bowl.
Dimensions:
Red vase height: 33 cm.
Diameter 20 cm
Bowl diameter: 35 cm
Height 10 cm
Condition: Excellent overall. No chips, cracks, or visible repairs. Beautiful glass luster.
Era & Provenance
Era: Circa 1960 - 1970 (Mid-Century Modern period).
Style: Italian (Murano).
Possible attribution: The work in red glass recalls productions from Empoli (Italy) for its generous form and vibrant color, or potentially certain Nordic glassmakers like Riihimäen Lasi (Finland) for the geometric clarity of the blue bowl.
Provenance: French private collection
