Yoshitomo Nara(1959–)
"Invisible Vision" — Official Poster published by N's YARD (B2 Size)
This is an official poster of Invisible Vision (2019), published by N's YARD — Yoshitomo Nara's own private art space and museum located in Nasu, Tochigi. This B2-format poster features the artist's signature round-faced child figure set against a soft, muted olive-green background — a gentle, atmospheric space that draws all attention inward, toward the figure herself.
What stops you in this image is the eyes. Large and open, they are filled not with the confrontational defiance of Nara's earlier works, but with something altogether stranger and more arresting: scattered within the warm amber irises are tiny flashes of colour — fragments of light, like sparks or confetti suspended mid-fall. They are the visual embodiment of the title itself. Invisible Vision is a seeing that cannot be explained — something perceived not with the eyes, but through them. The child does not stare at you; she looks through you, toward something you cannot see.
The figure is rendered in warm, layered tones of orange, rose, and amber — hair painted in loose, overlapping blocks of colour that give the portrait an almost dreamlike, painterly quality. The expression is still, unreadable, quietly interior. This is not a child caught in a moment of emotion; this is a child in a state of perception — tuned to a frequency the rest of us have forgotten.
Published exclusively through N's YARD, this poster carries the same spirit of directness and sincerity that defines the space itself. The N's YARD logo appears in white at the upper left; the verso carries the title, artist's name, copyright notice, and year, confirming its authenticity. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a museum-quality image by one of the most celebrated Japanese artists of his generation.

【Artist Profile】
Yoshitomo Nara (born December 5, 1959, Japan) is one of the most internationally acclaimed Japanese contemporary artists of his generation. He earned his BFA (1985) and MFA (1987) from Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Music, before moving to Germany to study at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf in the late 1980s, drawing on both Eastern and Western cultural influences throughout his career. Growing up in postwar Japan — an era of expanding exposure to Western pop culture including comics, Disney animation, and rock music — deeply informed his early artistic development. Nara's signature imagery of solitary children with large, soulful eyes carries layers of emotional complexity: innocence paired with defiance, tenderness edged with melancholy. He has consistently stated that his work transcends its cartoon-like surface to engage with deeper questions of spirituality, memory, and the human condition. Nara has held numerous solo exhibitions worldwide, including a major retrospective that toured from 2003 to 2005, and a further retrospective that traveled from the Guggenheim Bilbao to Museum Frieder Burda and the Hayward Gallery, London (2024–2025). His works are held in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Art Institute of Chicago; and the National Museum of Art, Osaka, among many other prominent institutions.
