Dancing Faun Bronze Statue – Faithful Reproduction of Ancient Masterpiece – Montecristo
Description:
This bronze statue of the Dancing Faun is a faithful reproduction of one of the most iconic masterpieces of ancient art, originally discovered in Pompeii and now preserved at the Naples Archaeological Museum.
The sculpture depicts a joyful faun in mid-dance, a symbol of fertility, abundance, and vitality in Greco-Roman culture. Its dynamic posture and expressive movement convey a timeless sense of freedom and exuberance, capturing the essence of the faun, a mythological figure associated with nature, festivities, and the cult of Dionysus.
This statue is cast in bronze using the lost-wax technique from a mould of the original, created in the early twentieth century by the historic Chiurazzi foundry in Naples. Renowned for producing large monuments and museum reproductions, Chiurazzi also supplied the Grand Tour market with high-quality souvenirs for discerning travelers at the turn of the 20th century.
