Description from the seller
Vintage Cole Bros. Circus Poster – Allen Sisters
Authentic original circus advertising poster featuring The Allen Sisters – “America’s Greatest EqOriginaluestriennes.” Produced for the touring Cole Bros. Circus during the 1940s.
These colorful lithographic posters were printed by Erie Litho & Printing Co., Erie, Pennsylvania, one of the primary printers of American circus advertising during the Golden Age of traveling circuses.
The poster depicts the famous Allen Sisters performing an equestrian balancing act atop a galloping horse, a classic bareback circus stunt that was a major attraction in mid-20th century circus shows.
This is a tall panel poster format, designed to be posted on buildings, telephone poles, or parade routes in advance of the circus arrival.
Because these posters were intended for short-term outdoor use, surviving originals are increasingly collectible today.
