Description from the seller
Crystal vase – Val Saint-Lambert, design by Joseph Simon, multicolored (brown-purple/clear), 1930s
A distinctive crystal vase from the Belgian glassworks Val Saint-Lambert, designed by Joseph Simon, crafted in a refined multicolored combination of brown-purple and clear crystal. This piece dates from the 1930s, a period when the factory gained international renown for innovative color techniques and striking designs.
The vase displays a harmonious interplay between clear and colored crystal, with cut facets that refract light in a unique way and deepen the color. The subtle transition from brown-purple glass to clear crystal is characteristic of Val Saint-Lambert’s artistic approach in this period, where form and color reinforce one another.
Joseph Simon was known for his elegant, often geometrically inspired designs that align with the Art Deco style. This vase fits perfectly within that tradition: bold in form, refined in execution, and with a clear emphasis on light, color, and structure.
An attractive and collectible object that reflects the quality and artistic ambition of Val Saint-Lambert in the interwar period.
