Description:
This work features Jomon period earthenware and Kofun period haniwa. These ancient Japanese artifacts are depicted through the artist's specific formative sense. The technique uses multi-colored woodblock printing to represent the texture of earth and an aged appearance through deep colors and heavy matiere.
Artist Profile:
Born in Tokyo in 1920. Founding member of the Japan Print Association (Nippankai) in 1960. Invited exhibitor at the Tokyo International Exhibition of Prints in 1962. Died in 1994.
