Large maiolica ceramic plate with a rustic Mediterranean decoration and a blue cobalt fish motif, made in Sicily, Italy, dating from 1950–1960, with a diameter of 30 cm and a depth of 4.5 cm, in good used condition with signs of age such as small rim chips and craquelure.

Large Maiolica Ceramic Plate - Rustic Fish Decoration - Italy, 19th/20th Century
Description of the Item
Fascinating and large rustic ceramic plate, typical of the Mediterranean popular tradition. The piece stands out for its genuine aesthetics and the vivid colors typical of artisanal production of the period.
Decorative Details:
Central Subject: Stylized depiction of a fish in cobalt blue, a symbol of abundance and a recurring theme in coastal ceramics.
Rim: Features a rich decorative band in a sponged pattern or small brush touches in sap green, enclosed by concentric blue borders.
Finish: Cream/beige glaze with a pronounced and charming craquelure spread across the entire surface, testifying to its age and firing method.
Conditions:
The item presents itself in original, as-found condition.
There are signs of wear consistent with age and use, such as small chips along the edge and glaze loss.
A fine crack running from the edge toward the center is visible on both the front and back (please refer to the detailed photos).
The back shows the typical rough terracotta base with turning marks and traces of smoke/wear that confirm its authenticity and antique domestic use.
