Description from the seller

Name: Qing dynasty carved bamboo figural ornament, "Figures Rowing in a Boat"

Dimensions: Length: 23.5 cm, Width: 3 cm, Height: 3 cm

Technique: Combination of multiple carving techniques: round carving, relief carving, low relief, and piercing.

Condition: Generally well preserved, with a warm, natural patina, no obvious defects. Local details are sharp, meeting the characteristics of Qing dynasty carved bamboo pieces passed down through time.
This Qing dynasty carved bamboo figure ornament, "Figures Rowing in a Boat," was made from a single piece of old bamboo, following its natural shape. The boat body is slender, with the ends slightly curved upward, and the chambers arranged in layers. The boat deck was carved using piercing technique, creating intricate woven patterns of extraordinary delicacy. Inside the boat, several figures can be seen: some row with oars, others sit in pairs chatting, each with a distinct expression and posture, achieving a sense of lifelike presence. The piece as a whole presents a warm patina and a serene color. The skill of the cuts is masterful and the details are meticulous. It combines the elegance of a study object for a study room with the charm of everyday life, being an outstanding work of Qing dynasty bamboo craftsmanship and of great value both for collection and for decoration.
