Ceramic vase from Germany in the Fat-Lava style of the 1960s–1970s, likely by Scheurich, 37 cm high with red droplet motifs and a dark lava glaze, in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
Description from the seller
Striking ceramic vase from the 1970s, executed in the typical Fat-Lava style of West German ceramic production and the Scheurich company. The vase shows a bold, high-contrast design with bright red, drop-shaped elements that are rhythmically distributed over the body and surrounded by a dark, highly textured lava glaze.
The relief-like surface is created by the characteristic lava glaze, during firing a bubbly, volcanically resembling structure forms. In combination with the intense color scheme this results in an expressive, almost graphic appearance that is emblematic of the design of the 1960s and 1970s.
The clear, slightly conical form emphasizes the decorative effect of the glaze and directs the eye to the lively pattern. Such vases were manufactured in West Germany in large ceramic centers and today are a distinctive example of the so-called Fat-Lava aesthetic, which is collected internationally.
The vase has no chips or cracks.
The goods are wrapped in cushioning foil and surrounded by bio-styrofoam in a double-walled carton shipped by DHL.
The vase functions as a standalone piece as well as in combination with other objects of the era and, with its intense colorfulness, makes a strong accent in the room.
