Description from the seller
Offered is an exceptional and refined Art Deco powder box from the famous “Ingrid” collection, attributed to Heinrich Hoffmann and/or Curt Schlevogt.
This high-quality piece was manufactured in Czechoslovakia during the interwar period (circa 1930-1934) and is regarded as a textbook example of Bohemian glass art from the Art Deco period.
On the lid are two bathing nymphs and on the small plate around, three bathing nymphs depicted.
The box is made in a soft pink color “Alabaster” pressed glass and shows a beautiful, detailed high-relief of bathing nymphs. The soft, matte finish creates a subtle play of light and shadow, allowing the sculptural quality of the design to come fully into its own.
This type of object lies on the border between a functional utilitarian item and an art object, and is thus very loved by collectors of Art Deco glass and Bohemian design pieces.
