Description from the seller
Tschenresi
In Tibetan religion – which the monk Tsonkapa (1356-1419) falsified as the teaching of the "Lamaism" – a variant of "Buddhism" – the high priest is the "Dalai Lama" – an embodiment of the "Tschenresi" (Padmapani), as the Divine Representative of the Buddha.
The exact origin of these chess pieces is not known. The original figures were found in 1860 by the Russian explorer Prschevalsky near the town of Thak (Tibet) and probably date from 1566.
The meaning of the figures:
King (Tschenresi): The supreme priest.
Queen: Symbol of temptation and transport (Eve with the apple).
Runner: Bodyguard with a sword.
Knight: A graceful horse.
The rook is the symbol of power and is embodied by an elephant.
The pawns are depicted as little Buddhas.
Material requirements: according to attachment
Ceramic: 4800 g.
Ceramic S: 5500 g.
Poly-wood guffmasse: 2800 g.
A beautiful eyecatcher,
The board measures 61x61 cm and weighs more than 12 kg. It is made of ceramic (porcelain); there are some small chips along the edges,
The pieces are, with one exception, undamaged; the damaged piece was repaired in the 1970s. The size of the pieces can be seen in the photos. The total weight of all pieces is about 6250 g. It is also made of Ceramic (porcelain) the total weight of the complete set is about 18.45 kilos.
I bought this set in 1987, when it stood in the display window of an antique shop, after I had moved to a smaller home a few years ago I am, to my regret, no longer able to display it. Others may enjoy it!
I have wrapped and packed everything as well and securely as possible and it can therefore be shipped! But due to the present fragility it is preferable to pick it up! The package is 107x28x75 cm in size and weighs almost 23 kg.
