A charming pocket-sized edition of Progymnasmata by Aphthonius the Sophist, an important classical rhetorical work widely used in early modern education.
This edition was published in Amsterdam (Amstelodami) by Joannes Janssonius in 1659, as indicated on the title page.
The book is bound in a simple yet attractive full vellum binding. The binding shows visible age-related wear, including discoloration, light soiling, and minor stains, but remains structurally sound.
The interior is complete and in good condition for its age. The pages are clean with some age toning and occasional spotting.
